I'm trying to find a good laptop cooling pad for my MacBook. When I play games, like Counter-Strike: Source, my temperature can reach up to 80 degrees celsius with the fan speed at 4000RPM (smcFanControll).

    Suggestions?

RAGE Software (http://www.ragesw.com/), maker of a suite of tools to assist webmasters in optimizing their websites, announced updates to two of their most popular applications, SERank and Domainer, at Macworld this week.

Domainer 1.5 is an update to RAGE's domain administration application. Previously functionality included integration with iCal to alert for domain name expirations and keychain to securely store FTP login details. Domainer 1.5 is a free update to current users and adds additional popularity statistics including blog popularity, RSS feed subscribers, and popular Digg.com submissions. Domainer website (http://www.ragesw.com/products/domainer.html)

Also released was SERank 1.5, which adds over a dozen new search engines and the ability to check up to 100 search engine results to SERank. SERank already had the capability to track where their websites appear on many other search engines automatically, including Google, Yahoo, and MSN. I had the same issues. I just used Boxee and it's advanced calibration options to make the screen fit. Does not help anything but Boxee so your Safari still won't fit but your movies will fit. You can also control Boxee over wifi with an iOS device. Let me know if you need help with that.

While there is a chance that the file has been overwritten, the OS itself takes up only a small portion of the drive. If the file was elsewhere than where the install and temp files since then were, you may be able to use data recovery software to get it back. Try something like FileSalvage to get the deleted file back. (http://www.subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1) You can use the demo to see if the file(s) can be recovered before you buy so if you find the file(s) are gone, you aren't out any money. Good luck. In the future as others have said, always make sure you backup before clean installing the OS. It's a painful lesson to learn.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8H7 Safari/6533.18.5)

In my PowerBook g3 (wallstreet) screen started behaving erratically to the point it became useless. We bought a g4 iMac and never looked back.

Finally determined that I want to get files off that old laptop, and not sure how to do so? I'm pretty sure the PowerBook still boots, and I'm going to try hooking up an external monitor (no I didn't think of that 9 years ago) to see if I can use it to see for sure. If it does work, and I can access the system after all these years, I want to be ready to grab files right then.

What would be the best way for me to connect it to an intel iMac to transfer those files? Would it be as easy as connecting the two with an Ethernet cable and turning on file sharing? Or should I plan on connecting it to the campus network at work and dumping to some network drive space?

The PowerBook is running 8.5, I think, and the iMac is running the most recent 10.6.

    Any advice?

I have a 2010 Mac Pro 6-Core 3.33Mhz with 12GB ram (3x4GB sticks) and 4x2TB Western Digital Black Caviar internals).

What I purchased this system in 09/2010. After taking out the 2gb of Apple memory and adding in the 12gb from OWC, and adding in my internal hd`s, I was up and ready to go.

I have no issue with the computer - except for one.

The computer powers up an normal speed to the sign in screen, and after inputting password, goes to the desktop. This is where one of two things happens rather frequently.

Half the time, the desktop loads 100% with no issue and when I click on the finder, the new finder window opens, showing me all the drives in my Mac Pro. If I click on one, in order to show me what is inside each drive (the folders and files) - the beachball appears and often times in spins for a minute or two before showing the contents of that drive.

The other half of the time, the desktop loads slowly and then the beachball appears and keeps on spinning and freezes the system and I have to hold the power button to power down the system.

I have a way fast system (on paper). I am not running anything heavier than Photoshop on my computer. I have more than enough memory. And my drives are ALL virtually empty. And this problem is happening upon just starting the computer at the desktop level, so it`s not like I am running 5 programs at the same time or anything taxing to the system.

I have sent the computer out to Apple for a lookover. Just wondering what could be causing this issue. Desktop either loads fine or it doesn`t. And when it doesn`t, the damn beachball.

I notice when I repair the disk permissions, it acts as a bandaid for this problem, but only for the first few start-ups, then back to same issue.

I feel like for what I do with this system, and the guts of my system, it should be lightening fast.

Any thoughts as to what it could be? Just curious as I wait for Apple to tell me the news.

In the time you spent "testing", you could have just turned it off. Look under Energy Pref Pane.

Simple problem, but it is bothering me. On my Droid I was able just to highlight a new number or click on a text and it would enable me to create a contact if one had not already been created. Now I have to manually type in a contact on my Iphone. Is there any way to do this? Am I missing something?

Biffy Clyro are exploding in the UK with am album which is challenging Robbie Williams at the top of the charts.

No Revolutions is stunning and will make Biffy Clyro Britains and soon the World's biggest band.

Think of a glorious mixture between Led Zepellin, The Proclaimers, Motorhead, Nirvana and The Eagles then maybe it is something like the unique sound Biffy Clyro has created.

    Hi there,

I work at a University in the UK and have a few ex departmental machines that were replaced long ago. I was wondering what would be the best thing to do with them? It would kill me to simply throw them out but they can't stay here as we need the space!

We have mostly G3 iMacs, the ones with the slot-loading CD drives. 333MHz I think.

We also have 2 Powerbook 1400s - I can get the full specs of all the machines if necessary.

    Any ideas?

Be careful- don't get too close. A spider-like creature may burst forth and attach itself to your face. Then a day or so later, a different creature will burst forth from your stomach. It will be virtually unstoppable and have acid for blood. :)

I was looking for a cheaper alternative, but in the end has to fork out good money and got CadTools for CS5...

Not to get all preachy on you here, (:o ) but if it contributes to your earning a crust it is worth buying
Who knows, you may even find use for the stuff you think you don't need.

I have one. Two hard drives failed within the first year but were replaced by Apple for free and since then no problems. Other than the fact that it's a bit outdated (I want the multitouch trackpad, bigger HDD, more ram, still running leopard, etc) it's still going strong.
