I was thinking of buying an iPod nano online from the Apple store.
The thing is that I never bought an Apple product online before.
I want to know exactly how a credit card charge on the Apple store breaks down; if there are hidden fees, etc.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
No hidden fees, you may have to pay tax.
Shipping isusually free.
Believe me, Apple is not going to commit credit card fraud.

Here's one way to get it bootstrapped if you have a serial cable:
http://adtpro.sourceforge.net/bootstrap.html
That looks confusing.
Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure if you meet the minimum specs for Fallout 1 and 2, but if you do, those should definitely be on your list! They absolutely fly on my iMac 600mhz with 1gb of RAM... if you maxed out your RAM, you should be okay.

Hey guys,
I have a pair of noise-canceling headphones I plug into my Macbook, but unfortunately I sometimes can't hear my phone ringing right across from me, which is pretty annoying
Is it possible to plug one pair of headphones into two devices, so that it will receive audio from both my macbook and phone? I don't really know how the wiring works but are there splitters that go from 1 female plug to 2 male plugs?
Thanks

His asking price is too high. As others have pointed out, you can get a much better one completely new for not much more than he wants for his used one. In fact, if you wait for a refurbished one direct from Apple, you can get really close to his price and still get a much better current model.

I've got this weird thing going on lately. Whenever I download a file, no matter 100mb or 10gb, no matter if the DL is going "full speed" or not (i'm on a 40mb connection). The download speed regularly "peaks" either at my own maximum download speed, or at the sending server's maximum upload speed. It then drops down to less than half of that, and after a while it peaks again, etc.
Basically my problem lately is that, no matter what the download speed I'm getting, it won't stay consistent. And this happens when I have multiple downloads on too.
example: downloading a 4gb game on steam: http://i.imgur.com/u7s5H.png
example: downloading something on uTorrent: http://i.imgur.com/IFTVn.png
So to the main question. Is there some software to improve/bypass this network behavior? Somebody suggested something like CfosSpeed, but that's unfortunately PC-only.. Thanks!

There is a better option that will let you automatically sync the contacts back and forth between your Mac and Gmail.
Open the address book application on your Mac and open the preferences. There's an option there to synchronize with Google. Enter your account info and you're all set. It takes a little while for the Mac to start the first sync. It'll perform it within an hour.
If you've already imported from Gmail the other way, delete the contacts from your local address book first to avoid strange conflicts. :-)
This is the best option. However, unless Apple or Google has fixed the issue groups do not sync. So I use the Gcontactsync plugin for Thunderbird, it's not perfect but better than Address Book. I also use the Lightning plugin for calendar syncing in Thunderbird, I prefer the layout over iCal though trying to Cache data does not work so well meaning your calendar only is visable when you have an internet connection.

I've tried my best but a friend of mine who bought a Mini has decided the only :apple: stuff he likes is his iPhone and iPad. So, he wants to sell me his Mini.
I already have a 2009 Mini (2.0 GHz w/ 4 GB RAM)
His is the 2010 Mini (2.4 GHz w/ 8 GB RAM)
My question is...would I see enough performance increase to warrant shelving my existing Mini to get his? It seems like a good deal...
$900 for Mini, BT keyboard, BT Magic Mouse, additonal video adapter, and Parallels 6.
Is it a deal?

Pages, part of the iWork package has a number of templates. I took one and modified it for my own photographs, and my name on the back. Then saved that as a template. Now I just drag and drop my own photos into my own template and print away. You can print onto a full size piece of paper ( 8 1/2 by 11 inches in North America) and then score and fold for big sized card, or you can buy pre-scored card paper in various sizes. I have templates for, iiirc, 3 card sizes now. Save time and put the card size as part of the template name. :)

You can bet that companies like OWC will find a way to use this space for an SSD. Even easier would be to hook up an external SSD via Thunderbolt when it becomes available.

Yes, this did occur to me. A big player like Starbucks may get hundreds of thousands of promotional codes, but will Apple pay any attention to a small fry like me?
Well, I think that if you want, say, 500 they might work with you. I also think it depends on the success of the app in question. How many promotional codes are you aiming for?

I love Woz. I've met him once, he's one of the most down to earth and humble people you could ever meet. IMO only the Dali Lama has him beat. He's the exact opposite of what I would expect SJ to be.
I wonder how Woz would have responded to the iP4 antenna issue?
-Don
He would exchange all of them for new iPhones in a heartbeat which would be followed by the company going out of business.

So I am trying to make this machinima, you know where you record something on the screen and then add audio, my question is, has anyone done this and what is the best workflow? Should you record the sound first and the record the video with the sound or record the footage and then add the sound or try to do them simultaneously. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

It doesnt have to last me that long, I just want to know if it will. Also, its not that Im playing the waiting game, I just want to know if I should wait for the Intel processors instead of PPC. The thing is I hear new Intel iBooks would have many problems as well as the new apps and if theyll still be buggy when I need one, I would buy one now bc theyre pretty much perfected w/ the PPC.
Apples age very well. I know a number of people using G3 iMacs, c. 1999, as their primary computers.
I also see original iBooks at coffeeshops quite frequently.
I plan on mine lasting me through college (in my first semester of freshman year).

I don't have a 3G but I doubt they come from Apple with a number assigned. You probably have to log-on to either ATT or Verizon and set up an account before you are assigned a number.
